Companies reward presentivity – not productivity. That’s my conclusion from 30 years in the corporate world.
“Presentivity” isn’t even a recognised word, but I take it to mean turning up to the office and being seen. It’s the complete opposite of productivity, which means having something to show for your effort.
When corporates tell you that you need to be seen to succeed, you can be certain they reward presentivity.
They’re not interested in the quality of your work, they just want you to show up, fit in, and do as you’re told.
